This introductory course provides foundational knowledge in the field of bioinformatics, with a focus on key tools and resources. The Introduction to Bioinformatics (IBT) 2026 course is hosted by ABI and H3BioNet and will run from 14 July to 29 September 2026.

Over a period of three months, the course combines theoretical and practical sessions to give participants hands on experience in using a range of bioinformatics tools. It is open to graduates, postgraduate students, early-career researchers, and STEM professionals interested in developing practical bioinformatics skills.

The course will be delivered through biweekly virtual contact sessions held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These sessions provide an interactive environment where participants can engage with the content, trainers, and peers. DIPLOMICS will serve as one of the participating classrooms.

The curriculum covers core topics including bioinformatics resources and databases, Linux, sequence alignment, multiple sequence alignment (MSA), molecular evolution and phylogenetics, and genomics.
