WE ARE HERE TO
GUIDE YOU

Dr Patricia Swart
Dr Swart is passionate about enabling others to do their best work and has a combination of laboratory and bioinformatic technical skills and experience in project management.
After obtaining a PhD (Neuroscience) from the University of Cape Town and before joining DIPLOMICS, Dr Swart was a postdoctoral fellow in the Neuropsychiatric Genetics Group at Stellenbosch University.
During her postdoc she was tasked with analysing multi-omics data, co-supervising postgraduate students and managing and co-ordinating several research projects.
Student supervision was her favourite part of her job and in 2022 was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr Swart is able to provide guidance as to how to plan and tackle projects in terms of analysing and managing the data as well as communicating the results.
At present, Dr Swart coordinates the CLARITY platform alongside Dr Jongeneel. They will receive your query, assess your project needs, set you up with an expert consultant and be with you every step of the way to ensure you gain all the clarity you need.

Victor Jongeneel
Victor Jongeneel started his research career as a specialist in molecular genetics, working on viral DNA replication and transcription at several institutions in the USA and Switzerland. At the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in Lausanne, Switzerland, he studied the key factors regulating inflammatory responses mediated by tumor necrosis factors. Later, he worked on large-scale transcriptomics and massively-parallel signature sequencing in differential cancer gene expression.
Victor then turned to bioinformatics, developing new computational techniques for analysing complex biological datasets. He was a founding member of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics and the Vital-IT HPC centre and later served as the executive director of a NIH-funded Big Data Center of Excellence at the University of Illinois and the Mayo Clinic.
Victor is deeply experienced in managing scientific projects and institutions, and he is currently a consultant to the H3ABioNet African Bioinformatics Network.
