Past Training

DIPLOMICS, 108 Woodstock, Cape-Town

This 5-day workshop brought together three days spent in the lab and two days of bioinformatics analysis. DNA QC, library prep, and whole genome sequencing using Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) were covered, followed by instructions on performing de novo genome assembly using the Flye assembler on the Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC).


The workshop was designed for individuals who were sample contributors to the 1KSA project, with introductory molecular biology experience (DNA extraction and PCR) and minimal bioinformatics training.
