Illumina Library Prep and NGS Training provided by KRISP
ABOUT
The training will focus on the library preparation, quality control (using qPCR and fragment analysis) and sequencing (Illumina Miseq) of amplicons generated from SARS-CoV-2, using samples for which the sequence data has already been published.
Following this, participants will also learn secondary analysis of the generated raw data, which includes quality control, identifying and addressing common data quality issues and challenges, how to effectively manage the data and visualise the sequence data.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the conclusion of the workshop, participants will have learned about the following:
NGS data quality control
Data management
Data visualisation using bioinformatics tools and platforms
PARTICIPANT FEEDBACK
Here are some comments we received after the workshop:
"I hope to use the information taught to write up the methods section of my thesis relating to NGS, as well as use the bioinformatics to process and analyze my raw sequences."
"Having been able to do my very first hands-on library preparation, sequencing, and applying bioinformatics to my data, it was really life-transforming, and the close relationship, one on one contact with the facilitators."
"The small group size made meaningful interactions possible. It was easy to ask questions and get tailored feedback. It was easy to understand the rationale behind every step in the workflow. This kind of hands-on learning is quite rare."
